Reflective Journal on Teaching of ICT

Reflective Journal on Teaching of ICT

ICT has gained a lot of attention and interest these few decades,as it has changed the face of education. It has become a top priority in the 21st century classroom setting where students are looked upon or referred to as “Digital Native”,and today’s educators as “digital migrants”
The educators of today are no more the “information Box”, as we were seen decades before. Information and knowledge can be goggled up from various sources,we need to take up newer and better roles where we transform from a primary role of dispenser of information who helps students be media literate and help them turn information into knowledge and knowledge into wisdom.
ICT has been attributed to bringing changes in teaching since its penetration into the educational field. The module on ICT enhanced my knowledge in use of ICT though I have basic knowledge prior to this. The biggest thing I have learned from this module is web evaluation. Evaluating information sources is important part of the research process. I have learned that not all the information provided is reliable or true. Internet sources vary widely in their authority, accuracy, objectivity, currency and coverage. We must be able to critically evaluate the appropriateness of all types of information sources prior to relying on information. The use of ICT has also boosted my learning by making use of the VLE. Sharing of resources among teachers and with students has become easier. By helping teachers design lessons using ICT can create interactive classes and make lessons more enjoyable.Using ICT can motivate and help students with their learning and assignments. Creation of online blog was a new thing for me. I would certainly say designing teaching and learning materials using ICT tools is one of the most useful areas which requires continuous support from ICT personnel.

I would like to extend my sincere thanks and gratitude to our tutor / mentor of the ICT course, Mr. Ugyen Wangchuk without his guidance I wouldn’t be able to complete this course successfully. I strongly believe that this course will prove to be a milestone in my career opening doors of opportunities to prove my ability and contribute to the well-being of not only myself but also the organization that I work for, the society, the nation and the world at large.
